Hi everybody, Andy here with etrailer.com. Let's take a look together at this Bulldog Winch Standard Series Off-Road Synthetic Rope Winch. This standard series recovery winch is going to let you pull your stuck vehicle out of the mud, the snow, the water, or a ditch and up steep inclines. This is going to be perfect for your work trucks, jeeps, and other off-road vehicles. This has a rate of line pull with a single layer of synthetic rope around the drum of 12,000 pounds static load and a vehicle recovery capacity of 8,000 pounds. This six horsepower series wound motor is going to give you powerful, fast, and safe line pulling.

The motor is more powerful, more efficient, and produces more torque than a permanent magnet motor. The duty cycle on this winch is two minutes on, 15 minutes off, and the line pull at zero pounds has a line speed of 26.2 feet per minute. And at 12,000 pounds, line speed of 4.6 feet per minute. Now, this does have an automatic mechanical break. It's gonna hold 100% of the load while minimizing winch creep.

The power unit includes the contactor, the plastic housing, and all electrical wiring. A wiring kit is sold separately that will let you remotely mount the power unit if you would rather do that. The seal 450 amp contactor transmits power from your vehicle's battery to the winch motor, and it's water and weather resistant to IP67 specifications. Now, this does feature a rubber wireless or wired handheld remote. It's gonna be very easy to hold onto and operate.

If you decide to use it in the wired option, this does include a 12 foot lead that's going to let you operate the winch from a safe distance. And these weather resistant switches are going to power the load in and out so you're not gonna have to worry about the elements hurting the operation of this remote. It would be very easy to use, hold up really well for you. And then if you decide to use this with the wireless option instead, this will let you operate the winch from up to 82 feet away. Now, if you do wanna use a remote in the wired option, as you can see, you're just going to remove this cap here and then you'll just plug in this round end here right into the power unit there.

But when it's not in use, then that's going to be sealed up and you're not gonna have to worry about moisture, debris, or anything like that getting in there. So it's really nice that this remote will let you use this both in a wired option or wireless option. Now, this winch does have all-steel three-stage planetary gear train with a gear ratio of 265:1. So that's going to provide increased drum speed and torque when compared with worm drives or one or two-stage planetary gear trains. Let's take a look overhead and I just wanted to show you real briefly the free spooling clutch. This is going to ensure fast rope payout and reduce wear on the motor. And this gear box can actually be rotated 360 degrees so you can reach the clutch handle no matter where and how you mount this winch. I do wanna mention that this clutch is very smooth. It works very easily. I'm very impressed with its operation. Doesn't bind up or anything like that. Now, this 3/8 of an inch in diameter, 80 foot long HMPE synthetic rope is strong as steel, yet lightweight and safer to handle. And at its end is this 3/8 inch steel hook with keeper and nylon hand saver strap. And the drum dimensions is 2-1/2 inches in diameter and 8-/13/16 inches long. And this heavy duty 3/4 of an inch thick steel housed fairlead has a rounded fairlead hole that's going to help prevent friction damage to your rope. And the distance between the mounting holes are about 10 inches on center. And the clear anodized finish is going to do a great job of resisting corrosion. So this is a 12-volt DC motor and the battery lead here is six feet long. And let's go over some measurement dimensions of this winch just so you have a good idea of its size. So the overall length from end to end, we're sitting pretty close to 21-1/2 inches long. The overall width, we're sitting pretty close to 6-5/16 inches wide. And then the overall height from top to bottom, about 10-5/8 inches tall. This is going to be a four-volt mounting pattern and that measures 10 inches by 4-1/2 inches. And the total weight with the wire with the synthetic rope installed is a little under 60 pounds. So this does include everything that you see here along with instructions.
